Care For Your Jade Bonsai Plant

 

Taking care of your garden is also like taking care of your own child, you must give them your time and effort as well as tender, love and care especially those who require much attention like the succulent plants that I have indoors. But there is that one plant which I also received during our housewarming party and until now is very healthy and does not wither or die easily. And I have learned through my friends that it is actually an extremely popular succulent houseplant, most of my friends and neighbors have these type of plant. It is sometimes called as the money plant or dollar plant and it was once though to bring good luck to their owners, that is the reason why they were often given as housewarming gifts.

The plant is commonly known as the Jade plant, it is inexpensive, fast-growing, under demanding and amazingly resilient plant which is usually available at most garden outlet center, and local nurseries. Although these jade plants are very easy to grow they are also very susceptible to mealy bugs and fungal diseases , so the owner or the care taker of the plant must make sure that it is watered properly and has enough sunlight for these fungal problems not to worsen. This type of plant is commonly grown indoors and excels as one, it can also survive for decades in the same pot as long as not over watered too often. However, it is recommended to change the soil every 2 to 4 years because the soil needs to be very well draining.

You must always remember to never let your jade plant sit in the water and with proper conditions, the Jade plant will soon have white flowers making it an attractive and mildly fragrant display. Also, from time to time gently wipe the leaves of Jade plants to remove the dust and like all houseplant it adds oxygen to the room or house and helps clean the air.

Growing Your Own Bonsai Plant

 

It has a long story of beliefs that bonsai are lucky plants because they bring good luck to every household that cares and maintains them. One of the many plants that you could cultivate as bonsai is the Pyracantha or sometimes referred to as Firethorn. It is an Asian evergreen which has an abundance of white blossoms in spring and is loaded with beautiful orange-red berries on spurs along the wood of the previous year's growth in autumn. They resemble and are related to Cotoneaster. Firethorn is favored for their year round foliage, their abundant flowering capabilities and for their numerous fruit in autumn. The name Firethorn is derived from the fiery berry color and very sharp long thorns that carried on branches and these thorns may become branches in the future.

We all know that bonsai is the reproduction of natural tree forms in to a miniature form. This art form has its origin in Japan and China where it has been practiced for centuries. These bonsai are usually grown in pots and are totally dependent on you for their care. Pyracantha bonsai may be grown either indoors or outdoors and they do have specific care instructions if you choose either of the options. Always remember that with proper care, your bonsai will remain healthy, beautiful miniature for many years to come. If you place your bonsai indoors, please remember to put it in a cool, bright location receiving two or more hours of sunlight a day and appreciates being kept outdoors during the spring and summer. 

Firethorn bonsai require careful attention to watering. You must make sure to apply water before the soil appears dry -- never allow the soil to become completely dry. Keeping the soil evenly moist but not soggy. It doesn't really matter "how" you water your tree, but rather that when you are finished the tree has been well watered. Trimming, pinching,repotting and pruning is also necessary for the growth of your bonsai.

Every home has it's own and unique design or piece that they would love to flaunt and that they have a collection of these items. A friend of mine, loves to collect Bonsai plants, these are miniature plants grown in containers or pots which is shape a lot like an umbrella. The purposes of Bonsai are primarily contemplation for the viewer and the pleasant exercise of effort and ingenuity for the grower or the collector of plant. My friend explained to me why she loved to collect these plants, she said that having these plants do not need high maintenance in growing them, unlike any other plants that needs a lot of your attention and only grows in garden beds or pots and planters. A bonsai is created from a specimen of source material and can be created from nearly any perennial woody-stemmed tree or shrub species that produces true branches and can be cultivated to remain small through pot confinement and as well as with crown and root pruning. 

How would one know or recognize a plant that is a perfect candidate for bonsai cultivation? Some bonsai species are very popular because of some characteristics that they posses, such as small leaves or needles, that make them appropriate for the compact visual scope of bonsai. Bonsai is seldom confused with the dwarfing, but these two are totally different. Dwarfing usually refers to the research, discovery, or creation of plant cultivars that are permanent, genetic miniatures of existing species, on the other hand, Bonsai does not require genetically dwarfed trees, but rather it depends on growing small trees from a regular stocks and seeds. Using a different approach or technique for Bonsai cultivation, such as pruning, root reduction, potting, defoliation, and grafting that is to create a mimic of the shape and style of the mature and full-size trees. 

Collecting and cultivating these Bonsai trees are a lot fun especially when they have reached the planned final size, because it can now be planted in a display pot and can be styled or decorate as a zen reflections bonsai that can be complimented with a Japanese suiseki balance stones and a miniature fisherman.It would be perfect gift for any occasion or you could display it at home for relieving stress.
